47. Look at their presidential field.

You now have a party that can't produce any good leadership because their ideology is one of ignorance and corruption. Therefore, the Right might not be the threat you anticipate this time. There's no way for them to be socially cohesive, and they've dumbed themselves down too much.

They've been saying for four years that Obama is the worst kind of tyrant. The leadership can beat that drum if there's some goal to it, despite the fact that the Storm Troopers have not shown up at anybody's door. But when that goal disappears, and the Storm Troopers still aren't making people disappear, that drains the emotional energy away. It gives people an opportunity to realize they're not as afraid of Obama as they thought. Once the fear isn't distorting their lens then there's a chance of re-examination.

When billionaires have dump hundreds of millions of dollars into defeating Obama and it doesn't happen, well, that's going to, at least, lead to some re-evaluation of their strategy, too. Not that they'll ever come around.

Really, what's driving the Right is fear. Sooner or later, if the Storm Troopers never show up, they'll stop responding to fear, and they'll stop coming up with boogie men with which to scare other people.
