1. The subject line is misleading

He was fined for voter registration fraud - registering when he knew he was inelgible. Which is illegal and a reasonable thing to fine over.

I do however agree that felons should be able to vote, once they've "repayed their debt to society". It doesn't seem reasonable to jail someone for smoking marijuana at 20 and then have them still unable to vote at 50. It feels more like voter suppression than anything else.

So I assume this person was protesting that? Fair enough, but I still felt misled by the article.
