I remember at this initial pandemic outbreak in my hometown, the National Guard came to help with food distribution and deep cleaning of schools and other facilities.
Most were from the NY 369th, aka the "Harlem Hellfighters"/"Black Rattlers"/"Men of Bronze" Quite a storied history with them, from World War I.
