I think they underplayed the risk of flying because they didn't consider the long crowded ines for check in & safety inspections plus the crowds in the terminals. Plus airplanes are NOT practicing social distancing and on some flight every seat is filled so I for one will not fly until I have been vaccinated with a non-drumpf related substance or virus has disappeared which doesn't seem likely.
