And tens of thousands of protestors called for their arrest and conviction, as though the trial were a formality and the presumption of innocence an offense against correct thinking.

Last time I know habeas corpus was actually suspended in the US was when President Lincoln did it with some Marylanders.

The court slapped him down, thankfully.

Now I'm curious as to whether there have been other cases, maybe under Wilson.
