once you got a job or put your kids in school you had to surrender your car tags and get Floriduh plates. The police used to drive through corporate parking lots and check on cars that were there longer than two days.

At that time you also had to affirm a "Declaration of Domicile" saying you gave up your residency rights in a different state.

Currently it costs about $400.00 to change plates from E Bumfark SoDak to Floriduh. I don't see a rush on plate changes though.
