5. Those Armed Friendlies are a vigilante group.

They are the same ones who were at the border attempting to "arrest" undocumented migrants at the border in the past. This heavily armed militia group called itself "New Mexico Civil Guard" and is thought to have provoked the peaceful demonstrators. There is an investigation underway now. These militia groups seem to insert themselves into controversial situations. The mayor is removing the statue to an undisclosed area for the time being.
