I prepared statements like the one from the DC National Guard.
It's a combination of laziness and a culture that has become all about getting "home to the family".
I always viewed my military service differently.
It was extremely important that I safely get home to my family, but it was more important that Americans get home safely to their families.
We need to change this culture. We need to restore the word "servant" to "public servant".

This may be the most "on point" thing that I've read about the recent actions of our police....

As a military veteran I would like to make these points. Oath of Enlistment and UCMJ Article 92.

It's the same with the cops. They serve to protect and defend their fellow cops.
