15. My parents and my wife's parents are solid Democrats.

My mom and my wife's dad don't watch much television news. They'd rather be gardening, reading, or pursuing their other hobbies.

My wife's mom and my dad are television news junkies. They are always talking about MSNBC or CNN or something. They watch Rachel Maddow. They don't watch any Fox News.

My wife and I don't watch any television news at all. We quit television a long time ago. We don't have cable, satellite, or broadcast television. We haven't yet run out of things to watch on $8.99 a month Netflix or DVDs. We never see any commercials.

We used to have Comcast, and part of it was so our parents could watch their familiar shows whenever they were visiting, but it always irritated me that a portion of our cable subscription was paying for bullshit like Fox News.

I think traditional television is obsolete. Our adult children, nephews, and nieces don't have cable or satellite television in their homes. Their televisions are not hooked up to any antennas. They control their televisions from their cell phones or computers. The only television we talk about is shows we've seen on Netflix.

It's more likely teenagers will set their parents and grandparents up with streaming television and convince them to "cut the cord" and introduce them to the wonder of watching movies and television shows on-demand, any time they like.

I'm always shocked when I read here on DU how much people are paying for television, even worse, television with commercials.
