I have been in those children's shoes. My three siblings and I have photos with very similar and troubling expressions. So much sadness and hurt in their eyes. My heart is breaking. I just want to hug each one of them and tell them how special and precious they are.
I do not post often, but I am on Democratic Underground every day. You guys have been my lifeline during these past traumatizing Trump years.
I posted once about having grown up in a severely abusive home. Our father was controlling, harsh, cold, critical, judgmental, mean-spirited, rage-filled, and sadistic. To say that he was "unloving" is a gross understatement.
To be clear, I am not attributing those same characteristics to Donald, Jr., though I do believe he has revealed in various ways that he lacks insight and seems devoid of common sense. To post a photo like this is reprehensible. It shows the world that he has little, if no, empathy for his children, who all exhibit blatant signs of emotional distress in this photo.
What disturbs me so is the stupid grin on his face. He is obviously looking for his photo op, "come hell or high water." He may even view his children as his possessions, which is common with narcissistic parents. Though I have no way of knowing if Donald, Jr. is a bona fide narcissist, I would not be surprised if he were since his father is such a cruel, damaged, sociopathic man.
I am hoping that other family members shower these sweet babies with love and attention.
This photo makes me feel very sad.
