Actually while I was stationed there it changed from a “SAC” Base to “Space & Missile Command” & now if I’m not mistaken it’s “Space Operations Command” & falls under the new “Space Force” blah blah what the USAF already did. I don’t really know much about the so-called “Space Force” but I can’t see it doing anything the USAF wasn’t already doing!🤷🏻‍♂️...Do you know a lot about it?

...I was in the 30th Civil Engineering Squadron as a Sheetmetal & Welding Specialist.

...Being stationed at VAFB was a really fascinating & EERIE (Now that I know more about the world!!) place to be! So, was & (I think) still is the only place on Earth where you can watch the USAF test launch “intercontinental ballistic missiles” or ICBMs guided ballistic missiles that could end human civilization!😳 Also, at VAFB the USAF runs their own military & public space port where there is very regular rocket launches of all types!! I got to see many ICBM & various rocket launches...Including getting to see a massive Titan IV rocket launch from 4.5 miles away that was INSANE!

...However, I did recently go to Florida & watch a SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch! Which is the largest rocket in the world! ...Well, not counting the Saturn V Rocket that took the Apollo Missions to the Moon.

...Oh yeah, VAFB has 35 miles of coast closed to the public that I took full advantage of all the time! The wildlife was AMAZING!! I would hike about 3 miles out from where I parked & catch rock cod, rock crabs & the entire time be entertained by the seals & my favorite, California Otters!🥰
