(24,247 posts)I will say that being in a crowd it's really easy to overestimate its size. Been at events where it was announced that several hundred thousand people were there and then it turns out it was only 40,000. When you're inside a sea of people it's human nature to over estimate how many people are there. I'd bet anything waiting outside to get in the people were thinking it was going to be packed, "just look at everyone out here." Then they got inside and it was sparse at best. 6200 people in a 19,000 seat stadium looks empty. The entire upper bowl was empty. There were big empty sections in the lower bowl. The floor was 3/4s empty (That might have been by design for security).
It's no wonder they were bored and yawning, after all the hype to get seated and then wait for the arena to fill only to never have it happen has to be deflating. Love it.
