General Discussion
In reply to the discussion: I am so mad right now: What happened in my daughters class today (UPDATE) [View all]has been inflammatory since slavery and institutionalized American racist segregation/apartheid. America and some americans have always had to be forcibly dragged screaming to the alter of justice for all. A gender of people had to fight to get their rights in this country. Whole races of people had to fight to get the basic human right to be recognized, under the law, as an equal human being along with the right to the 'privilege' of voting. Don't try to hard to understand American racism except that it is with us Americans for the long haul. Some people just cannot come to grips with the fact that people different than them in gender, sexual orientation and race can be just as smart, mean, hurt as anyone on this planet. To start a study I would recommend 'Before the Mayflower' A History of the Negro in America 1619-1964, Lerone Bennett Jr. Pelican Publishers. Project Gutenberg might have an ebook. Also 'The Destruction of Black Civilization' Great issues of a Race from 4500 b.c.-2000 a.d .by Chancellor Williams, third world press. These will start to explain what is going on with the races. good luck
