There were some health experts at the very beginning, who were thinking that it might act like an influenza virus or other coronaviruses that have seasonal spikes. They were cautious in that assessment and quickly dismissed it when it was shown not to be the case.

Trump of course, is an idiot, and should never be listened to. He is usually lying, or ignorant, or some combination of both.
