We had pretty much full employment until the pandemic. What we did not have is regulation on capitalism to insure everyone reaped the benefit of it. We allow the rich to pay the poor a pittance of the wealth they help generate. In mind that is easier to fix than trying to gin up support for a UBI.

But honorable people can disagree.
