(151,022 posts)fireworks that explode or fly in the air are against the law. That law is not enforced, however, by the City of St. Paul, so many people drive to Wisconsin, where fireworks stores can be found just across the border on I-94.
For three or four nights around July 4, our dogs cower under the furniture out of fear of the loud noises. Our neighbors are among those who set off those fireworks.
Since the law is never enforced, there's no use calling the police. Fires get started. People get injured. That's why those fireworks are against the law. Laws that are not enforced are useless and stimulate defiance of all laws, really.
What do I do? Nothing. The same people shooting off fireworks are also right-wingers and general assholes. Most are 2nd Amendment supporters. So, I say nothing about their fireworks.
The law is not enforced. It should be.
