Trump was shown firm evidence of MbS's involvement in the killing, but he remained publicly skeptical, did nothing, stated the Saudi Prince assured him he had nothing to do with it, and has bent over backwards to avoid blaming MbS.

Trump did the same thing with the evidence about Russian election interference, stating US intel was wrong and publicly stating Putin had assured him he was not involved. Trump will now do the same thing with reports of these bounty killings targeting US troops.
