Edited to include the typical response: "But viruses are smaller than bacteria and can move through the mask!"

Yes, viruses are smaller than bacteria but in most cases both of them are transmitted via aerosolized droplets exhaled, coughed or sneezed which are caught in the mask.

Even condoms are only 98% effective, but do you want to take your chances?

In short, why would you not want to do everything to tip the odds in your favor as much as possible?

Avoid unnecessary crowds. Find a stylish mask and be a superhero. Wash your hands a lot.
