1. When hospitals reach max capacity, it is already 2 weeks too late, at least...

every indicator dealing with Covid is a lagging indicator. People don't show symptoms for days to weeks after infection. By then, they've infected others. When people go into the hospital, their stays are likely to be weeks longer than expected with flu or other illnesses, and the same with time on incubators. Everything takes longer than hospitals are used to dealing with. When hospitals are full, it's already too late to "contain" or "mitigate" the spread.

That's the lesson of Italy and NYC, which obviously has been lost on Repub governors around the country.

The brute force method of locking people down and closing the economy is the only tool that works when shit is that bad, and it looks like it is getting that bad in numerous parts of Texas and Florida, among other areas.
