1. To be accurate, NJ District 7 had a Democrat for three terms in the Seventies, Andrew Maguire.

Maguire was an unabashed Liberal.

He was swept out of office during the Reagan election in 1980. Marge Roukema, a progressive republican, replaced Maguire.

Because of the decennial redistricting in 1981, the Seventh District became the Fifth District, where Gottheimer currently "serves." (After decennial redistricting, Roukema's district was renumbered as the 5th District and became significantly more Republican than its predecessor. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marge_Roukema)
