Most of the people who need social safety nets have the children that Republicans say should be born, but then want to deny even food in their mouths. If a five year old needs food in their mouth, a roof over their head, and *gasp* healthcare, you are a heartless person for claiming that their parents are greedy for doing everything to help their children have all three.
I pay my taxes. I don't mind when they go to feed a hungry child. I do mind when I hear a Republican claim that all single mothers usually have a boyfriend on the couch that is a drug dealer on the side. I do mind when I hear public workers get disparaged because they have a pension and can afford to retire. I do mind when I hear that kids who depend on school lunches shouldn't get fed.
I give a damn about having a civil society, and I feel put upon by no one, since I helped finance it. It's the price I pay for not having seniors, the disabled, and children dying in the street.
