10. Huntsman needs to inoculate himself early against the obvious charge

of being a "Manchurian Candidate"...and what better way to do it than put it in a racist attack ad (against himself) that can be easily denounced.

It's pure Rovian strategy: it gets it out of the way early, makes it 'old news' and helps label anyone who uses that phrase as a racist.
