(2,529 posts)Whenever I point out to conservatives that veterans make sacrifices to their country, they invariably come back with, "you knew what you were getting into when you raised your right hand." Yeah, we did. We promised to uphold the Constitution and protect our country from all enemies, foreign and domestic, not fight unnecessary wars of choice to enrich corporations and the wealthy. There's really no such thing as an honorable war, but to be used by corporations and the wealthy to further enrich them, to see young patients die or be severely injured, to mark your own life from one seizure and blackout to the next, is less than being in a war. It's being an expendable pawn in a chess game where the players dispose of you uncaringly in their goal to win.
