(25,966 posts)words 'essential employee' or 'essential worker' really kind of overused and nauseating by local governmental bodies to force people back to work under uncertain times. Governments aren't the only ones demanding this either. It's other inconsiderate people too, who are missing their stupid haircuts and such other mundane services too.
My other half is in retail, and is classified as an 'essential worker' thus had to go to work while millions get their $600 weekly pay from the government (plus perhaps other pay too), all while staying in the comfort and protection of their homes.
This outrages me and puts me and all of the other retail workers and their families and friends in harms' way too. All so that someone can go buy their stupid and nonessential (for the most part) items.
This literally is the same way that teachers, administrators, maint. workers, etc. are being treated 'hey, we love to be exposed to thousands of untested children day in / day out'. Especially when other methods exist (online, etc.) that at least could serve as a temporary measure until the CV epidemic is safely over with. Also, not all have top notch insurance plans, if heaven forbid, the CV happens.
