started being covered in local and national news media before that when Trump first threatened to do this. Often the earliest and most thorough coverage of eventually big stories is local, for obvious reasons. As it was here.

MSNBC and CNN are NOT news networks. They're political entertainment/discussion networks. They did report and discuss Trump's threats, and they did mention that federal agents were sent, and they then waited for the trouble wannabe-strongman Trump intended to cause blew up into something emotion-provoking enough for viewers to want to listen to discussions. Which it did this weekend as the feds became more aggressive.
