11. This was an HOA that had a limited selection of colors you could paint your house . . .

and in which you had to get permission to paint your home -- even if you were painting it the same color as it was.

They also banned basketball hoops, not just those from above the garage door but the rollout kind as well.

Quite a sordid scene, for sure. The HOA was undone when the residents found that the Board had hired the relative of one officer to handle landscaping, and were all getting kickbacks from the exorbitant fees they paid for this maintenance.

Fortunately, I never had to live under such draconian rules. A friend of mine who lived there, however, would relay to me all the sordid details of the HOAs deceitfulness.
