In reply to the discussion: MSNBC's Tiffany Cross gives a masterclass on how to interview a Trump sycophant [View all]PatSeg
(53,625 posts)I remember the first time I saw Joy Reid do that with a weird Trump surrogate and I was initially impressed, but then she brought the guy back several times and did the same thing. It was too much like a scripted routine and actually served no purpose other than to get clips on social media.
This guy was certainly a horrible guest, but I'm quite sure that Tiffany and the show knew that in advance. Most shows wouldn't have even bothered to invite him. Once again, it was a gimmick, not a serious interview, meant to elicit emotional responses from viewers and probably meant to be an audition for Tiffany Cross for that time slot.
Cross is really sharp. She had some great questions and excellent fact checking. I just don't like this style of interviewing. I've seen it too many times in the past and it reeks of a scripted ambush.
