8. What will the open schools do when Covid infects

a student or teacher or para?

I fear that few schools that are opening have a plan in place. Will they shut down for 10 days (the latest recommendation) or 14 (preferred). Or notify families, require that class or grade to quarantine? Any way we look at it, there are bound to be many disruptions for in person schools.
Parents counting on school as daycare will again be confronted with what to do if the kids need to stay home for a period of time.

Sadly, Georgia is one state that can't be counted on to do what's needed to protect people.

Many school systems are modifying schedules to reduce number of students at one time, looking for ways to safely reopen. There are various things that can be done, but kids spread germs so it can never be as safe as keeping them home and doing on line schooling. I've seen pictures of busses with marked off seating designations. What happens when they see their first positive.

It strikes me that summer camp is a less rigid environment than school, which could lead to higher infection rates. But it also strikes me that having any summer camp this year is irresponsible and risky.

Having summer camp, increasing Covid outbreak, is predictable for states like Georgia. Hopefully it can serve as an example of how in person spread can happen to/with children.

I feel for the teachers and parents who must fight to not send their kids to school.
