18. I honestly find it hard to believe

that anyone already alive today will really live that long.

The simple truth is that the human body simply wears out. For some people that happens sooner than for others.

Several years ago I read something which had looked at how the various parts of the body tended to wear out, and it came to the conclusion that age 82 is around the point at which a lot of parts will have failed. Obviously, there are people that live significantly longer and in good health. Personally I have plans for my 97th birthday.

When I see these kinds of predictions, I never seem to see details of why anyone thinks the so far upper limits on life span (currently a bit over 122, can be shattered.
