(2,343 posts)Sometimes, I probe customers, coworkers and family to see what they know. Most know high-leve things (e.g. who's President? who's governor, Biden is Dem nominee, etc.), but you can forget their knowing something like the following:
--Who is our representative in Congress?
--Who is Sec of State?
--What are the three branches of gov't?
--What's Pelosi's title?
--Who's Chief Justice?
All stuff readers of DU would know in a hearbeat and cant fathom not knowing.
I mentioned to a friend last week that I needed to get home from our breakfast because I wanted to see some of the Sally Yates hearing. She asked me "who is that?".
Most people are trying to get by with life, and you and I are the weird ones with our obsession about politics. A couple days after the 2016 presidential election, I went over to my mother's and my brother was there. He commented on my sorrow and asked why "my panties were in a bunch." I told him that it was all because of Tuesday night. He genuinely asked me what happend on Tuesday.
We all just have to watch out for our fellow man/woman and coach them come Election Day.
