(17,596 posts)There always seems to a lot of consternation when word of top level management shake ups comes out, but these managers are so far removed from the day-to-day operations of any gov't agency, they have little impact on the civil servants actually doing the work.
AFAIK, the mail trucks are equipped with GPS so the post office manager knows where every truck is. The mailcarries are tracked pretty relentlessly it seems.
When I worked in DoD, assistant secretary for this, that and the other thing came and went. So did SecDefs. Little changed for those of us peons doing the work where the rubber hits the road. I still chuckle at the time all our command's managers went on a retreat for the day. Those of us left behind were happy we had an entire day to do our work and not be bothered by "the bosses".
