I actually knew it was called the Diablo but it seems to have not been in my consciousness for years, until you just reminded me!



And I saw that on that satellite loop earlier today. We get similar winds here but it's often referred t as the Chinook.

When it's driving fires and smoke like that, it's horrible and surreal. We haven't had many fires in the Northern Rockies all summer, until about two weeks ago. Now that our September rain has passed through, we'll be back to inferno status in a few days.
