And, "he meant the dem concerns were the hoax" is BS.
First, he said "virus" & "hoax" in the same run on sentence. Did not mention dems. Said "their".
Second, the dems who were concerned WERE RIGHT!
So, lame excuse is incinerated on two fronts.

He never literally called covid a hoax. He certainly downplayed it, though.
