Woodward makes a pretty good argument that he didn't immediately go public with Trump's comments about Covid-19 because he couldn't immediately tell whether Trump was experiencing a heretofore unseen moment of honesty, or lying as usual. It isn't clear to me WHEN exactly Trump made those particular comments. Was it closer to February 2020 or late June 2020? One thing I think we can all likely agree on is that if Woodward had gone public early on with the comments, Trump's inner circle would surely have shut the interviews down and we would not have any of the interviews that followed. My guess is that Trump's most damning comments likely came later in the game when he just knew he had Woodward in the palms of his hands.
