(18,402 posts)The concern is that he will spend the weeks and months after Election Day delegitimatizing the election results and implying the whole thing was a fraud and a fakestolen and that Biden is not the "real" president. You may scoff at that scenario, but you shouldn't. It's a dark cloud to face for the incoming administration, which has enough problems to contend with cleaning up the mess this one has left behind.
Remember, even if 39% of the population votes for Trump, they will believe him. And we could have a sort of inverse Belarus on our hands, with daily protests and a never-ending news cycle continuing to report on it. (They had a fake election which the real people are protesting; we will have a real election which the fake people will be protesting.) I also wouldn't put it past Trump to take it to the courts (it's what he does) and the whole mishegas will drag on forever. If you thought 2000 and the chads were unbearable, you ain't seen nothing yet.
