His cult members, having that same lack of wholesome qualities, see themselves reflected in him as they gaze adoringly and unthinkingly from their trance-like fealty to a mirror being held up to them.

They are not voting for Trump, essentially, they are voting for themselves as they are and their incapacity to process that makes them the easiest of marks for a career confidence man.
