6. I don't think they're gaffes

I think they're novice job hunter mistakes: Romney's never had a job he had to go out and get by himself - without counting on his ins with a governor father or Harvard MBA or high-ranking Mormon connections - and he just doesn't know how to sell himself. He's used to being deferred to, to always getting his way, and now people are asking him to give them a good reason to vote for him instead of the other guy - especially the kind of people he'd ordinarily enjoy firing.

Oh, he wants it, maybe even more than Ann does. He's just playing the game by his rules instead of the actual ones, and he's losing because in the real world you can't just start out on 3rd base.
