Especially devastating news of an oncoming calamity we have little ability to avert, and which with a small change of circumstance and timing we wouldnt be facing because weve done all the right things and were going to win the next election.
Some gloom and despair is natural, and being a sanctimonious prig with an unwanted lecture at just the wrong time is obnoxious. People have a right to feel a natural range of emotions and give voice to their pain in time of trouble.
