It does a fantastic job of laying out individuals' moral and professional obligations and options, even in a fascist dictatorship. The film is not about the trials of top brass criminal Nazi officials. It is about judges who followed carried out the immoral Nazi laws in their rulings and sentences. In the course of the trial, all arguments are weighed, pro and con, and then Spencer Tracy, as chief tribunal judge, gives his ruling and reasons. His final comment after the trial to one of the defendents says it all.
Although I have watched this film before, I found it especially pertinent to issues we face today about personal responsibility, integrity, and courage to live up to professional standards and moral values in all settings.
