(40,340 posts)"For the peace officer, double-action practice is very probably all that he should ever do; that is, once he has gotten a rudimentary knowledge of gun-pointing by deliberate and painstaking slow-fire practice. The officer who can slam six shots into a cardboard man-silhouette in the space of three seconds is an exceedingly dangerous gunner and it is to be regretted that more of our officers arent trained along these lines
I have done a great deal of double-action shooting with our biggest handguns. "

I don't know the last time I target practiced using the sights on my revolver. It's been awhile. I can consistently hit center of mass on a man size target up to a range of 7 yards. I don't practice shooting father then that as my house is 24 feet long and there's only 2 spots in the home where it would be possible to shoot that far. I carry my gun while at home but not off my property unless going to and from a shooting range.
