reaction, that this was meant to be a joke. A really dumb joke, to be sure, but not a serious statement/question.

I just hate to see us respond like they do -- jumping all over something when it isn't warranted.

Did you see the vid of Jill Biden making a gesture that the audience turned into a double entendre? It was funny and innocent. I saw some RWingers post how crass and low class the Bidens are to have done that. It wasn't even intentional, it was to the audience who started the ball rolling, but yet the RW whipped it into something it wasn't.

It's more of a comment on the people responding than it is on the subject person, IMO. I think we're too smart to engage in that crap.

Of course, I could be all wrong about Romney's intent in which case I'd be right on board with this particular event, but it's just too hard for me to believe anybody wouldn't understand the ramifications of de-pressurizing an airliner.

I have to add, though, I always seem to want to give people the benefit of the doubt, even people I loathe (and loathe more each day) like Romney. So it may just be me.
