8. oh, wow - I had no idea

however, there's been lots of stuff on the facebook page (my town) about 'outsiders' coming up here and bringing covid

It sounds kind of awful, but given the fact that NY'ers (I grew up there - love NY!)
but NY'ers drive up here for holiday -- lots of tri-state area folks do that (esp. now - it's leaf peepers season.

And, of course - NY got hit hard in the beginning. We're in a relatively safe bubble here - but we all watched what was happening just a few hours away

So, some of the fears are understandable. And now those states are doing better - I don't hear about that very often anymore.

For the most part, we rely so heavily on out-of-towners to bring $ to our little mom and pop industries - we know we need folks to come (a little!).

One of the nice things that our Gov. did do - is to give us all a bonus payment to spend in the state. It was originally supposed to be for much more, but the state house cut it down to 25. Still, it's nice. We have an electronic gift card to spend right in town
