This is something that has been going on for a while; I'm realist enough to know that as much as a lot of people may like to, we won't be turning back the clock unless and until there's severe disruption in fuel supply or a spike in oil prices up to 2008 levels or beyond. Unfortunately it's going to take a severe crisis of capitalism for there to be a serious rethinking of the way things are done; probably more than one since the idiots running things didn't quite get the message and seem to think things will be A-OK as long as we can get back to business as usual...which isn't really on the cards; the new business as usual is going to be cyclic recession and depression and oil price shocks and resource scarcity, more likely than not. Which is going to be bad for everyone but at the same time...the odds are that people in developing countries who are far less dependent upon oil will be hurt far less than Americans or Europeans.
