(36,788 posts)37. Yes. It is a relic of the male only military.
But there is a medical draft standby plan which does include women unless directed by Congress to exempt women. It would be administered by the same Selective Service System as would handle a military draft.

There's nothing voluntary about registering for the Selective Service. It is the law for males.
