6. You Can Outnumber Them At The Polls And Still Loose

Trust me, I live in PA and until the state courts nullified the Congressional map we had 13 out of 18 congressional seats occupied by Republicans; it's 9 - 9 now but that's still a Republican advantage considering the Democratic party's registration advantage in PA. It helps that the statewide offices have been held by Democratic folks for the last few years. But the state legislature is still held by Republicans. They'll just change the rules, pack the courts or gerrymander themselves into power and ignore the will of the people.

I've said this many times, the Dems need to make systematic structural changes to prevent the Repubs from pushing on the scales. Every effort has to be made to get people to participate in elections, ensure representatives are beholden to their constituents and not their party and keep taxes and resources local (people like Mitch who brag about securing more resources for themselves should be described for what they are, theives). Make more programs matching funded; communities have to buy into what they want. Don't punish communities that want government services and are willing to pay for them by transferring state and federal tax revenue to fund areas that are anti-tax and anti-government (practice what you preach and suffer the consequences). That's what's going on in most communities and the Repubs just keep taking and then throw in the "tax and spend" crap to top it off.
