Pretending otherwise is as naive or disingenuous as saying "Well, the Royals have just as good a chance of winning the World Series in 2012 as do the Yankees." Yes, both franchises are in the American League, but that's where the competition ends because of the money available to each team to purchase the best talent available. Yeah, Kansas City might beat New York on a given night, but nobody would expect them to take the pennant.
