(3,128 posts)38. It's funny but her mental illness did define me.
Not in ways you might think. I was very protective of my nieces and nephews at family gatherings. My mom expected them to act like adults. Shed be mad at my siblings for not controlling them. I was young enough to know how to engage them and keep them out of trouble.
As a result, I have great relationships with most of them!
My oldest brother - the abusive one - is out of my life. My other siblings have let him back in, but knowing how homophobic he is, Im not about to do that.
