my little chihuahua Chase. he was over 15 years old and there was no life left in his life, so i let him go.

we'd kept him mostly pain free and reasonably agile for several years though his entire skeleton was a mess: bad knees, bad back, bad hips, bad neck. he was on prednisone for years and we'd up the dose when he was hurting, adding muscle relaxers and pain relievers. he came back from the brink a few times, until he just got so tired.

His doctor told me after that that there's always that one dog, that best dog. Chase was mine. His ashes are on the mantle and the plate on it says "best dog there ever was."

so I got a puppy right away and he's keeping me good company through this pandemic and i love him like crazy, but you know what he's not Chase.

i hope you get many more happy days with your Boog.
