In reply to the discussion: AOC now streaming live on Twitch [View all]LonePirate
(13,419 posts)It was the middle of the night in Europe and western Russia. I suspect most viewers in Asia don't know who AOC is and if any tuned it, it was simply because she was the top listed live Twitch stream. Some Australians may have watched since the stream was in English.
That leaves the western hemisphere. One of her teammates was a Canadian streamer so I am sure some Canadians were watching. Were some viewers from Central and South America? Quite possibly. Still, given the time of day (US prime time) and AOC's fame which is mostly restricted to the US (how many foreigners care about a new US congressional representative not in a position of power?), I suspect a majority of her viewers tonight were Americans.
Now, I suppose a point could be made that the majority of her viewers might not be Americans of voting age as Twitch skews remarkably younger than television, radio, newspapers, Facebook and Twitter. Still, I would guess at least 100K voting age Americans watched some of her stream and that number could easily be much higher. That's some massive voter outreach by any measure.
