It is dated I totally agree, BUT, with all of the backlash us women in the military had to put up with because of this article, which still exists today, is well worth the retiring of this senator in exchange for a better democrat. Just because he is an ally doesn't mean I personally have to want him on our side. Democrats are famously informed (or at least in my biased view) about candidates, and I think this is no different than pointing out the hero John McCain needs to retire because his voting record for veterans SUCKS!

He said he is fully committed to furthering efforts and policies that aid women in the military but has no time for military sexual assault which is one of the biggest issues facing women (2,000 men a year are sexually assaulted in the military versus 17,000 women sexually assaulted annually in the military which equals out to roughly 500,000 since women first began serving).
